National Active Partnerships Development Group

About the Group

Following a review of the Active Partnerships National Board, sub-committee and working group structure it was decided to form a new national Development Group that will guide the national Board in considering the strengths, opportunities, challenges and priorities to drive the network vision and impact.

The group works with a clarity of purpose but operates more flexibly to add value and create wider strategic impact at a national level. It is be driven by the needs of the Partnerships reflecting the key themes drawn out across a range of mechanisms. It stimulates debate and draws on the learning and experiences from across Active Partnerships, using it to shape national thinking and activities. It creates mechanisms to co-design activity and better harness the expertise that exists within the network. It works collaboratively with Sport England in maximising the impact of the Active Partnerships. It provides input to the national Board to consider the major challenges and agendas of the network.

MSP’s role

With a number of other Active Partnerships we sit on the group and collaborate to ensure the local Active Partnership voices help shape and influence the National direction. This involves attending meetings several times per year, looking at scenario planning and ensuring we keep true to the purpose of the group.

Currently, we are heavily involved in understanding and adapting to the impact COVID 19 is having on our sector. This has included the creation of various scenario plans that support the positive changes we have seen, such as in increased levels of walking, cycling and keeping active at home; but also addressing the challenges that have been exacerbated. Most notably, the increase in the inequality that exists within different groups of people.
