I oversee MSP’s children and young people-focussed work and have a strong understanding of local communities. My role is to broker and support the right relationships, plus help identify opportunities to increase sport and physical activity participation amongst young people in the Liverpool City Region.

With a focus on inactive people, under-represented and complex groups, I also play a strategic role in developing new services.

I left competitive water polo and swimming age 30, having realised I could no longer keep up with the fast kids. These days I run and cycle as means to stay active and social through sport.

I’m passionate about young people being given the opportunities to be successful through sport. My role as School Games Officer allows me to ensure that many young people within the Liverpool City Region have the chance to participate in a range of sport, with the hope that they will continue to be active and lead a healthy life. My focus is to raise the profile of the School Games and have a positive impact on those who are involved with them.

Outside of work, my other passion is playing football. I’m captain of Mossley Hill Ladies Football Club, where we compete against a number of teams from around the North West.

Brendan McCrudden

My role is to deliver, influence and support sport and physical activity to inactive people who come from communities facing inequalities.  My experience in community sport and public administration enables me to support and underpin the delivery of programmes and services which will impact communities facing inequalities to be involved in sport or physical activity.

In my spare time I play, volunteer and sometimes coach for a local rugby union club.  I also enjoy participating in parkrun on a weekend.

In my role as a Partnership Officer I take pride in working closely with a diverse range of organisations. I ensure that I have a comprehensive understanding of our target audiences and their values and goals, which helps me to identify areas of collaboration that align with our organisation’s missions. I actively seek out partnerships that support initiatives aimed at promoting gender equity, encouraging leadership and fostering inclusive environments for the most inactive in our communities.

One area that holds a special place in my heart is advocating for the empowerment of women and girls within the workforce. I strongly believe in creating equal opportunities and breaking down barriers that may hinder their participation and progress.

In my spare time I like to keep active by playing squash, walking my dog (Patterdale Terrier) and attending the gym to do classes like Metafit.

Partnership Manager – Health

Danny Woodworth

The world can be a complicated place, but partnership working doesn’t have to be – I join up the dots and shape opportunities to embed physical activity within the health system.  I love a good challenge, and bring positivity and determination to help to make things happen.

I bring a wealth of experience working and volunteering in health and community development, and I believe that our inspiring communities and partners have the knowledge, skills and assets to unlock doors and break down barriers.

Being active is my relaxation, so outside of work you’ll find me playing touch rugby, football or tennis.  You can throw into the mix a bit of running, cycling, hiking, paddleboarding and surfing, or failing that I’ll be getting emotional about my beloved Blackburn Rovers!

Learning, Research and Insight Officer

Kenny Chu

My role across MSP involves driving a culture of continuous improvement across the organisation..

The purpose of this is to develop systems that empower measurement, evaluation and learning capabilities. This involves translating data and information into actionable insights to enable people to make better decisions that will deliver better results and outcomes for the most needy and vulnerable in our locality.

In my spare time I enjoy travelling, as well as playing 7-a-side football and rock climbing to keep fit.

Finance, Compliance and Operations Manager

Jo Schumann

I know financial compliance and office logistics aren’t everyone’s cup of tea – but making MSP a well-oiled organisation, operating without problems is a job I enjoy! Striving for excellence is one of my core principles and ensures we’re an efficient, effective organisation that’s able to inspire people to be active every day.

Life outside of work is taken up by socialising with friends and family, planning my next holiday or DIY in a constant battle to try and get the house finished, a battle I’ve been losing for the last 15 years. In between all this you’ll find me in the gym trying to fight the ageing process!

My role as a Sport Welfare Officer is a new role which is part of a national network across the country. We focus on supporting and assisting Club Welfare Officers to create safer and more inclusive club environments, and improved experiences for children, young people and adults. 

In my spare time I enjoy gym classes such as circuit training and spinning, as well as running and walking.

Matt Moran

As Sports Welfare Officer, my role is part of the wider network of Sport Welfare officers nationwide. We focus on supporting and assisting Club Welfare Officers to create safe and more inclusive club environments, and improved experiences for children, young people and adults within sport and physical activity across Merseyside.

Outside of MSP, I coach and play Baseball both domestically and internationally. In my spare time, I enjoy staying active through the gym.
